The heart of our mission is to
HEAL, EQUIP, EMPOWER.
Champions for Congo partners with Nundu Deaconess Hospital (NDH)
and the Free Methodist Church in the Democratic Republic of Congo
as it provides holistic, compassionate healthcare in Eastern Congo in the name of Jesus.
MISSION
We champion equitable, holistic healthcare in rural Eastern Congo by:
- Delivering compassionate, trauma-informed treatment and healing.
- Empowering communities to take charge of their health and economic futures.
- Building a resilient and sustainable healthcare system for generations to come.
HEAL
We provide high-quality medical care at Deaconess Nundu Hospital and its network of health centers, treating over 8,000 patients annually. Services include maternal and child health, surgery, emergency care, and treatment for malnutrition, HIV/AIDS, and chronic illnesses. Trauma-sensitive care is central, as many patients are survivors of violence and displacement.
EQUIP
Through the Nundu School of Nursing and our midwifery program, over 450 nurses have already been trained and deployed across Eastern Congo. Continuous mentorship, clinical training, and research ensure that healthcare workers are equipped to meet urgent needs and lead the future of Congolese healthcare. Scholarships are also provided to train Congolese doctors in pediatrics, obstetrics, ophthalmology, radiology, physical therapy, and surgery.
EMPOWER
Jali Afya (CARE FOR HEALTH) is a program which empowers families with nutrition support, household gardens, and small-business start-up capital. By addressing the root causes of poor health, we help communities achieve economic stability, improve diets, and raise healthier children. More than 600 babies are safely delivered each month through Jali Afya’s maternal health programs.
VISION
Healthy, thriving, and resilient communities in Eastern Congo where every life is cherished and uplifted. This is healthcare which gives hope and healing.
There are many creative ways to give and get involved.
